CORONA DEL MAR, CA

As a spec home project, we chose a warm modern palette to coordinate with the architecture. The environment and natural lighting dictated our material choices.

For the kitchen backsplash, we used classic carrara marble that is perfect for a modern setting, while the hood is made from plaster. We love how organic it feels and the freedom we have for a fully customizable colored hood. We chose contemporary lighting accented with gold to bounce off the porcelain countertops.

When selecting finishes and materials for the kitchen, we were seeking a linear grain and geometric influences to vibe with the contemporaneity of the structure. while accents of rustic cutting boards complete a warm modern feel.

Since the property faces the Pacific, we used shapes that capture the spirit of coastal living, starting with the white hanging light fixture – a modern riff on coral while the herringbone wallpaper echoes the waves.

In the main living area, we were looking for a dramatic statement to elevate the space and echo the tranquility of morning fog. We chose porcelain to have the appearance of Pietra Grey Marble, emulating the variations in mood and lighting both indoors and out.

Working with luxury Builder and Developer Western Pacific Construction in Corona Del Mar, this project included both the front and back units – technically, two houses. We continue our collaborative relationship for his home, other flips, and development projects as needed.
