HOW TO CHOOSE BAR STOOLS & COUNTER STOOLS IN 3 SIMPLE STEPS

SIT UP AND TAKE NOTICE.

Bar stools and counter stools can add an eye-catching element to your space. They can also be a comfortable spot to eat, work, or socialize.

Picking the right one can be as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Step 1

CONFIRM THE HEIGHT.

It’s important to measure and select the correct height of the stool otherwise it can be uncomfortable and look disproportionate.

Start by measuring your current island, counter, or bar, and allow for 9 to 12 inches between the seat of the stool and the countertop.

The standard counter stool height is 24-29 inches tall and the standard bar stool height is 29-32 inches. Be sure to double-check the measurement of your counter and make sure the stool you are interested in accommodates the height.

Step 2

CONSIDER THE FUNCTION.

Think about how you use the space. Consider things like durability, comfort, and flexibility. If you have kids or the stools are in a high-use area, durable and easy to clean fabric is a must!

If you want something simple and easy to move around, a backless stool is a good choice. If you want to sit back, relax, and have a glass of wine then we suggest a comfortable, but chic leather-backed stool.

Step 3

CHOOSE YOUR STYLE.

We often play around with multiple options for each client in order to find the perfect style.

Counter and bar stools can tie the room together, especially in an open-concept home.

Try out different textures to add an unexpected twist or incorporate a style in juxtaposition to the style of your kitchen or bar area. For example, we love how the black Marina Counter Stool ties together the hardware while contrasting the white marble and light oak cabinets in our Goldenrod 506 project.
